Under limited supervision, the Event Coordinator plans, manages, and executes events and programs that advance the University’s mission, with a focus on supporting the Office of the President, Board of Trustees, Division of Development, and Communications Department. The role also assists other university departments and colleges with event planning and special programming as needed.
Job Duties
- Plan & Execute Signature Events: Manage all aspects of special events from initial concept to final evaluation. Coordinate and source logistics including on-campus and off-campus venues, catering, décor, photography, audiovisual needs, entertainment, etc.
- Campus & Community Engagement: Represent the Office of Special Events on various university committees and cross-departmental projects. Collaborate with departments across development, student affairs, alumni relations, athletics, veteran’s affairs, and more.
- Logistics and Operation Support: Supports the President’s House Manager in coordinating logistics for special events, tours, overnight guests, and seasonal décor.
- Website & Communications: Maintains event content and photo galleries on the SEO website and distributes event photos to guests, partners, etc. in a timely manner.
- Décor & Logistics: Assists with the coordination and organization of event décor, props and related inventory for special events and functions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in HRTM or Public Relations. Proven experience in event planning and project management, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
