Job Summary
The Executive Director provides leadership, administrative direction, and oversight of all freshmen recruitment and community outreach initiatives at UTSA in support of university strategic enrollment goals.
This position will be responsible for leading teams of recruiters and staff to support Freshman student recruitment activities as well as building a pipeline with community outreach. This position serves as the primary point of contact for university recruitment and will collaborate across colleges and departments to help establish recruitment priorities, strategies, and initiatives. Additionally, community engagement and outreach remains a priority and should expand under this leadership position.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervises teams of recruiters and other full-time and part-time staff including all hiring, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Must have expertise in managing others to meet enrollment goals.
- Oversees university recruitment activities and events, program development and management, travel schedules and event coordination to include educational fairs, community events, conferences, and required school/college visits.
- Utilizes historical and predictive data analytics to monitor and manage KPIs and metrics, ensuring progress toward enrollment objectives.
- Collaborates with Global Initiatives and the Graduate Recruitment Office for the successful planning and execution of international recruitment initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment, creates and implements annual recruitment plans and coordinates with colleges and departments on recruitment activities in support of said recruitment plans.
- Works collaboratively with university leadership, establishes target enrollment goals and strategies that are in line with university goals and initiatives.
- Collaborates with Enrollment Marketing and Communications to create and implement targeted strategic enrollment marketing and communication strategies for local, statewide, out-of-state, and international recruitment.
- Develops and manages partnerships/relationships/agreements with K-12 partners and community education organizations in support of enrollment goals and initiatives. Leads community outreach efforts and works collaboratively with those partners to address the needs of our students, community and partners.
- Directs and manages partnerships/relationships/agreements with third-party vendors of student search, enrollment, and recruiting services in support of enrollment goals and initiatives. Works collaboratively with vendors and on-campus partners to solve complex technical, operational, and process-related challenges.
- Possesses a thorough understanding and use of CRM and SIS systems to coordinate efforts and strategically manage enrollment funnels.
- Coordinates university partnership of staff and alumni for national and local college recruitment fairs.
- Conducts research and benchmarks on specific topics and provides reports and recommendations to leadership to enhance undergraduate recruitment efforts.
- Develops and administers recruitment budgets, including forecasting, cash operations, planning and monitoring application fee revenue and expenditures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- 8-10 years of progressively responsible management experience in higher education enrollment management, admissions, recruitment, education partnership or similarly related employment, including 5-7 years of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality work. Ability to handle multiple assignments of various durations.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and customer services skills.
- Exceptional public speaking skills and ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to work independently in face-paced changing environment.
- Standard office equipment, including, computer and Microsoft Office software.
- Experience working the CRM platforms, like Slate or Salesforce.
- Experience in higher education student recruitment and/or admissions.

Working Conditions
- Regular office hours. Occasional travel and work beyond 8-5 may be required.
- Travel required for recruitment events as necessary.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
