"Executive/Senior Executive (Education & Outreach)"

Job Description

An Executive/Senior Executive is required to support education and outreach programmes at the St. John's Island National Marine Laboratory (SJINML). The job scope also includes assisting in the management and operations of the Marine Park Outreach Education Centre at SJINML.

The primary location of this job is at SJINML on St John's Island.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, organise and carry out programmes for education and outreach at SJINML
• Plan and develop effective strategies for communicating marine science research conducted at SJINML (e.g., website, social media, newsletter)
• Plan, organise and lead stakeholder engagement events (e.g., meetings, visits, etc) at SJINML
• Liaise with local and international scientists for education, outreach and other stakeholder events/programmes
• Assist the management and operations of the Marine Park Outreach and Education Centre at SJINML (e.g., gallery duties)
• Oversee the administrative and safety management responsibilities as pertaining to education and outreach activities and facilities at SJINML
• Any other related duties as assigned by Reporting Manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life science, Environment Science or related disciplines. Candidates with Degrees with relevant knowledge of marine science and/or science communication will also strongly considered.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude is required.
• Candidate should be self-motivated and able to work in a team.
• Due to the nature of education and outreach programmes and operations, candidate must be prepared to work on certain weekends (rostered).
• Job location is on St John's Island and travel to work includes a ferry ride. Candidate must be able to swim. He/she should be prepared to work in offshore location.
• Other useful skills such as IT/website, design and illustration, or event organisation will be advantageous.
