About us

The Development Office (DVO) supports the University’s mission by building enduring relationships with our donors and enabling philanthropic support that advances education, research and societal impact. DVO works closely with partners across the University to facilitate meaningful giving, steward donor relationships, and ensure gifts are managed responsibly in accordance with donor intent and University policies.

Key responsibilities

Partner with faculties and units across the University to facilitate timely, well-documented gift acceptance.
Coordinate gift documentation and follow-ups, ensuring donor intent, reporting and recognition commitments are clearly captured.
Support gift stewardship, including fund utilisation support, donor reports, and drafting correspondence and agreements.
Maintain accurate records of donor recognition and reporting commitments.
Ensure gifts are accepted and administered in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and University policies and guidelines, escalating issues where needed.
Contribute to continuous improvement of existing workflows and take on new projects as required, including initiatives related to centralisation of the function.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support team and organisational goals.

Who are we looking for?

Possession of a recognised degree or diploma from a university or equivalent institution.
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply; prior exposure to higher education environments or philanthropic contexts is advantageous.
Demonstrated enthusiasm for philanthropy and a clear commitment to honouring donor intent and maximizing impact.

Skills & competencies

Process-driven with strong critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
Proactive, inquisitive, and meticulous, with the ability to plan and prioritise multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
Strong integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
Good verbal and written communication skills; able to draft clear, accurate correspondence and documentation.
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable additional skills

Technologically adept, comfortable embracing IT solutions, including AI-enabled tools, to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
