About the Project

A lifestyle that includes physical activity, either in the form of habitual activity or structured exercise, is required to reduce the risk of disease. Most exercise is beneficial for health, but to fully understand the optimal exercise to maintain health and reduce risk of disease we need to be able to monitor the mechanisms of how exercise elicits these effects.

This PhD will investigate the effect of different modes of exercise on biomarkers of metabolic and brain health. Students will have the opportunity to work with human participants recruited to the Centre of Movement and Wellbeing to undertake exercise interventions designed to reduce risk of disease, and improve metabolic health, physical function and brain health.
