Facilities Maintenance Technician

Essential Job Duties

Join our dedicated Building Maintenance and Operations team as a Facilities Maintenance Technician and play a vital role in keeping our campus systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. In this position, you'll use your technical expertise to maintain, repair, and install a wide range of building systems, including HVACR, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.

• Maintain, repair, and install HVACR systems, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer guidelines on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
• Conduct electrical work up to 600 VAC
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems
• Install and maintain plumbing systems
• Perform pipefitting and insulation work
• Ensure compliance with safety standards

Other Work/Responsibilities

• Must participate in quarterly on-call program
• Must be able to work overtime and/or alternate shifts when necessary

Minimum Experience/Education

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrate through work, a depth of knowledge and skills for pneumatic controls, as well as DDC type of controls.
• Diagnose, repair and install all types of electrical equipment to NC code.
• Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public
• Diagnose/troubleshoot/repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the trades areas of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
• Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards
• Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with colleagues and campus partners
