Essential Job Duties
Join our dedicated Building Maintenance and Operations team as a Facilities Maintenance Technician and play a vital role in keeping our campus systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. In this position, you'll use your technical expertise to maintain, repair, and install a wide range of building systems, including HVACR, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain, repair, and install HVACR systems, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer guidelines on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
- Conduct electrical work up to 600 VAC
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems
- Install and maintain plumbing systems
- Perform pipefitting and insulation work
- Ensure compliance with safety standards
Other Work/Responsibilities
- Must participate in quarterly on-call program
- Must be able to work overtime and/or alternate shifts when necessary
Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate through work, a depth of knowledge and skills for pneumatic controls, as well as DDC type of controls.
- Diagnose, repair and install all types of electrical equipment to NC code.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public
- Diagnose/troubleshoot/repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the trades areas of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
- Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards
- Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with colleagues and campus partners
