Job Summary
The Facilities Technician performs complex maintenance work and repairs in multiple maintenance and building construction trades. Work involves the maintaining of grounds, repair of building components; utilities, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, stationary equipment, and/or motorized equipment, lawn sprinkler systems and HVAC systems. Duties/Responsibilities
- Daily morning trash pickup for overall campus.
- Inspects campus after storms.
- Performs preventative maintenance task on HVAC filter systems, fire alarms, fire equipment, plumbing fixtures, lighting systems, building maintenance and grounds equipment.
- Performs electrical work such as, replacing receptacles, breakers, ballast, bulbs, cord plugs, light fixtures and pulling wire.
- Performs carpentry work such as repair and installation of doors, locks, closures, furniture, ceilings, dry wall and cabinets.
- May perform exterior grounds care including cutting, landscaping, weeding, dirt work and associated repairs.
- Performs plumbing repairs to include soldering, changing out of commodes, faucets, etc. and unclogging drains.
- Performs inspections and repairs of equipment, operating machinery, building appliances and systems.
- Calculate material and supplies for projects.
- Maintain a tidy workshop for the repairs, alteration, refinishing and construction for facilities maintenance.
- May operate a forklift, pressure washer and fire-fighting equipment.
- May train others and act as a lead worker on construction, maintenance or repair projects.
- Assist with event setup at MPC.
- Assist with vehicle maintenance.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED Certificate and completion of a technical program
- 3 years minimum experience in general maintenance of buildings
- Experience in general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electronic systems, preventive maintenance and mechanical equipment relating to building trades
- Emphasis on HVAC troubleshooting and repairs
- Knowledge and use of equipment needed for the repair maintenance and operations of buildings and grounds
- Knowledge of a variety of skills needed to complete daily building maintenance, equipment repairs and special projects
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Receive and maintain HVAC certification.
Physical Requirements
Considerable physical activity, restricted movement, lifting, carrying heavy objects, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to fifty pounds, walking, climbing, and bending is primary part of the job more than 80% of the time. Ability to work in almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, rain, hazard chemicals, dirt, dust, and loud noises.
