Facility Maintenance Technician-Building Trades
Primary Purpose of the Organization
The Division of Facilities Management functions are to design, construct, maintain and operate the physical facilities of the University. The number one objective of the department is to provide and maintain facilities that will enhance and support the mission and academic goals of the University. Our approach is centered upon providing a superior level of customer service.
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Building Maintenance Technician (Carpentry) - Journey Level is responsible for performing skilled carpentry and general building maintenance work across the Fayetteville State University campus. This position plays a vital role in preserving, repairing, and enhancing the university's physical infrastructure to ensure safe, functional, and aesthetically appropriate facilities for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in trade(s) areas assigned; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A valid driver's license. Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record, preferably five or more years of driving experience with no more than one minor at-fault accident or violation in the past three years.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Customer Service- Ability to insist on providing high quality service for internal and external customers. Demonstrates customer focus by seeking out, understanding, and responding to the needs of both internal and external customers. Responds to customer's needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
Knowledge-Technical- Advises staff of specialized grounds maintenance techniques and processes for use In unusual. General knowledge of established Trade procedures and techniques, and special applications required in assigned areas. Ability to follow a daily work schedule, and react to situations requiring minor adjustments to routine.
Dependability/Attendance- Ability to demonstrate dependability, which requires daily attendance. Ability to report to work daily, for a full shift, at an appropriate time. Ability to submit leave request at least 5 days in advanced as much as possible.
Communication- Conveys information clearly, confidently, and with proper tone. Ability to develop and deliver written information to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the message
Planning/Organizing- Ability to follow the daily work schedule by prioritizing the needs of the organization and implementing procedures to ensure that the tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tten years of progressive Building Trades experience at the journeyman level,Licensed General Contractor.
- Valid NC Driver's License
