Changsha University of Science & Technology (CSUST) is an engineering-centered multidisciplinary university integrating engineering, science, management, economics, liberal arts, law, philosophy, and fine arts. It takes a stronghold in undergraduate education while possesses post-doctoral science and research workstations, and the rights to confer Doctor’s Degree and recommend students for postgraduate study.

CSUST is included in the “Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in the Midwest China”. It’s also a “Domestic First-Class University Construction University” (Class A) in Hunan Province. With an area of 1,986,676 square meters, the university has 21 teaching schools (departments), 1 independent college and 1 continuing education college. At present, the number of full-time registered undergraduates is over 39,000 among which the number of Master’s degree and PhD candidates amounts to 5600.

CSUST has 76 undergraduate majors, with 12 disciplines listed as national first-class disciplines, 9 as national specialized disciplines; It is also renowned with 6 domestic first-class construction(cultivation) disciplines in Hunan Province, in which chemistry, engineering science and materials science ranking among the top 1% of ESI worldwide. CSUST has 5 post-doctoral research stations, 6 primary disciplines and 33 sub-disciplines authorized for the doctoral degree, 27 primary disciplines and 126 sub-disciplines authorized for the master’s degree. CSUST has 3 national level research platforms, 2 innovation teams under the Ministry of Education, 8 innovation teams at provincial level, 46 provincial and ministerial level key laboratories，engineering (technical) research centers and other natural science innovation platforms, 20 provincial level philosophy and social science research bases.
