About Institute for Frontier Science

Institute for Frontier Science (IFS) at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics was established at June 2021, with Prof. Wanlin Guo, a Chinese Academy of Sciences academician, being appointed as the founding dean. Aim at solving problems in the science frontier, IFS currently has three major research directions: 1) Hydrovoltaic Science and Technology, 2) Aerospace Data Science and Intelligence Technology, and 3) Advanced Material Science and Device Technology. By setting up a ‘special area’ for talents and disciplines at the university, IFS is committed to conduct forward-looking, strategic and frontier fundamental research as well as ground-breaking research.

Talented people are essential to innovation. The Institute seeks to build a high-level research team specializing in frontier and interdisciplinary research, with chief scientists serving as team leaders. IFS will create a ‘special area’ for talents and disciplines, and in turn, provide platforms that gather innovative research and high-level talents.
