Faculty-Electrical Systems Technology
Position Summary
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is looking for a full-time instructor to join our rapidly growing Electrical Systems Technology area of study. Our instructors will lead students through all facets of the ELC program, including AC/DC theory, wiring, and industrial motor controls to prepare students for technical careers.
This is a 9-month faculty position reporting directly to the Lead ELC Instructor and the Program Chair of Construction Technology.
Required Education/Experience
- AAS Degree or higher in Electrical Systems Technology or related AAS Degree or higher (AHR, ELN, or ELC Engineering) with Min of 14 SHC in ELC from accredited college or university
- Five (5) years of documented field experience as an electrician, journeyman electrician or maintenance electrician employed in a full-time electrical maintenance department.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
- Minimum seven (7) years of documented residential and/or commercial/industrial installation and/or electrical maintenance experience.
- North Carolina Limited or higher electrical contractor license is highly desired.*
*An electrical contractors license from another state that will reciprocate to North Carolina will be considered.
Work Hours
Total of 40 hours related to college and program business. (Office hours to meet with students and college related matters)
Special Instructions to Applicants
Be prepared to give a teaching demonstration on wiring a 3-phase motor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
- Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
- Update, communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the Colleges support services to identify and address the students academic support needs.
- Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the Colleges learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
- Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
- When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
- Support student mentoring, advising, registration and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.
- Participate in professional development opportunities (selected or assigned) in order to enhance and apply knowledge/skills within the discipline, to effectively utilize required course technology and College applications, and to maintain licensures (as applicable).
- Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.
- Participate in College meetings, events, and committees as appropriate or required.
- Attend and participate in the annual graduation ceremony.
