Faculty Lecturer position in Social Psychology

The Department of Psychology at McGill University invites applications for a Faculty Lecturer position in Social Psychology with an anticipated starting date of August 1, 2026. The initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of re-appointment. This is a full-time position, and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Psychology at the date of appointment, and those with demonstrated expertise in social psychology are strongly encouraged to apply. We expect the successful candidate to be able to teach a range of courses including an introductory lecture course in social psychology, advanced courses focusing on specific topics in social psychology, as well as a lab-based research methods course. Candidates may also be asked to teach generalist and entry level courses such as Introduction to Psychology. As such, candidates are expected to show excellence or promise in teaching university-level courses and prior experience teaching undergraduate social psychology courses is highly desirable. Comfort teaching to large audiences (300-700 students) is important. The standard teaching load is 6 courses per year although adjustments may be possible in light of other department responsibilities.

In addition to staying up to date and well informed about cutting edge developments in theory, research, and statistical methods in social psychology, we seek candidates with a keen interest in professional development and an interest in implementing modern pedagogical techniques (e.g., evidence-based approaches). We also expect the successful candidate to be innovative in course and curriculum design, and to incorporate best practices regarding reproducible research and modern techniques/software into their teaching. Additional responsibilities include mentoring of undergraduate students conducting independent research projects and supporting teaching-intensive courses. Given these expectations, some previous experience in a research supervision role is desirable.

Review of applications will begin 30 days after the posting of this ad and will continue until the position is filled. Applications must be submitted on-line at https://mcgill.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/McGill_Careers/job/McGill-College-2001/Faculty-Lecturer---Department-of-Psychology_JR0000073389. Three letters of recommendation will be requested from those who advance to the second stage of consideration.
