The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin on September 1, 2026. We are seeking outstanding candidates to join our vibrant research and teaching community in the following areas:
- Assistant Professor – Microbial Ecology
Candidates will pursue a research program in microbial ecology, with interests that may include the impact of microbial communities on human or environmental health, interactions among microorganisms, or evolutionary processes in microbial communities. - Assistant Professor – Genetics
Candidates will pursue a research program using genetic tools to investigate mechanistic molecular biological phenomena. We will prioritize candidates with research programs examining microbial (bacterial, fungal, or archaeal) systems to examine important biological questions. - Assistant Professor – Biology Education
Candidates will develop a teaching and research program focused on Biology Education and/or pedagogy in science. A priority will be improving student success in first-year undergraduate study, with a focus on teaching and/or leading instructional teams in our core General Biology courses.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree and have relevant postdoctoral research and teaching experience. A strong commitment to both research excellence and innovative teaching is expected.
