Summary: Part-time (0.4 FTE) faculty position in the Department of Specialty Dentistry responsible for development and implementation of the predoctoral curriculum in orthodontics in the DDS program, including didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching or occasional support with patient care as needed. This is a non-tenure position. Faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
Principal Functional Responsibilities:
Teaching: Responsible for development and delivery of the orthodontics curriculum for dental students in the new DDS program including development and implementation of courses and student assessments for classroom, preclinical simulation, and clinical instruction or occasional support with patient care across the DDS curriculum as needed.
Service: Active participation on college and university committees might be assigned. In addition, membership and participation in state and national professional dental organizations is strongly encouraged.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- DDS/DMD or equivalent.
- Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio for a Dentist License or a Limited Dental Teaching License.
- Qualified to be appointed as a faculty member in the College of Dentistry (rank commensurate with qualifications).
- Clinical proficiency in orthodontics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Residency: Certificate of advanced education in orthodontics from a CODA-approved residency.
- Teaching Experience and Expertise: Experienced dental educator with experience in curriculum and course development and teaching at the predoctoral level. Interested in educational innovation and up to date on contemporary educational approaches. Openness to new educational approaches. Didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching experience preferred.
- Accreditation Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of, and experience with, accreditation of predoctoral dental education programs by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Able to collaborate with college administration to ensure ongoing compliance with CODA standards.
- Board Certification: Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Orthodontics is preferred but not required.
- Collaborative: Can work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and the university.
- Humanistic Environment: Committed to building a humanistic culture/climate within the college and to fostering student success.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
