The Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (BiUH) is the first international independent university in the Hainan Free Trade Port. Our approach combines theory and practice following the renowned "Work-Integrated University-Industry Collaborative Talent Training Model."

Job Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership and Program Management
- Provide strategic and academic leadership for the Mechatronics Engineering discipline and degree programs.
- Lead the design, review, and continuous improvement of the curriculum to ensure alignment with international academic standards, technological developments, and industry needs.
- Coordinate course offerings, teaching assignments, laboratory activities, and academic workload planning.
- Support the recruitment, development, mentoring, and performance evaluation of academic staff.
- Contribute to departmental and university-level academic planning, governance, and committee work.
2. Teaching and Student Supervision
- Teach core and advanced undergraduate courses in Mechatronics Engineering and related areas.
- Develop practice-oriented teaching materials, laboratory exercises, projects, and interdisciplinary learning activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching quality and student learning outcomes.
3. Research and Scholarly Activity
- Conduct and lead high-quality applied research in Mechatronics Engineering or closely related fields.
- Develop a clear research agenda aligned with the strategic priorities of BIUH and relevant industry needs.
- Publish research outcomes in recognized academic journals and conferences.
- Seek external research funding and support the development of research laboratories and platforms.
4. Industry, Community, and International Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with industry, government agencies, professional associations, research institutions, and other universities.
- Promote industry-oriented teaching, internships, joint projects, applied research, and knowledge transfer.
- Represent the program, department, and university at national and international conferences, professional networks, and academic events.
- Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the continuing relevance of the program.
- Contribute to BIUH’s international visibility and its engagement with the Hainan Free Trade Port and the wider region.
Job Qualifications
- A PhD in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Control Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more relevant fields, such as:
- Automation and control systems
- Robotics and autonomous systems
- Intelligent manufacturing and Industry 4.0
- Embedded and cyber-physical systems
- Sensors, actuators, and instrumentation
- Mechanical design and electromechanical systems
- Industrial digitalization and artificial intelligence applications
- Relevant academic leadership or program management experience.
- Practical, applied research, or collaborative experience with industry.
- Strong communication, organizational, and intercultural collaboration skills.
- Ability to teach and work effectively in English in an international academic environment.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and high standards of academic integrity in teaching, research, and leadership.
