The ideal candidate possesses a DVM/VMD/BVSc, and/or PhD and is preferably board eligible or board certified in Veterinary Microbiology.

The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and teach the Parasitology and Virology courses as well participate in laboratories. In addition, all faculty members are expected to participate in faculty committee, school governance, and hold office hours for student mentoring.

Starting date ideally is May 1, 2026, for the beginning of our Summer semester.

The main emphasis at St. Matthew’s is education, and our faculty spends most of their time teaching, mentoring, and advising students. We offer small class size, a safe and beautiful environment, and an excellent group of colleagues for you to work with. Students spend the first seven semesters on Grand Cayman and complete their final year of clinical rotations at one of our affiliate schools. The School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew’s University uses the trimester system and Parasitology and Virology are taught in the 2nd and 3rd semesters respectively.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with a candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salaries are not subject to income tax in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory and offer a first-world lifestyle. Grand Cayman is only a one-hour plane ride to Miami. Grand Cayman is one of the top financial centres in the world, and those who live here have access to first class resorts and many of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. Living on Grand Cayman means you can enjoy year-long warm weather, the best beach in the world, and experience incredible snorkelling and diving opportunities.
