Call for Faculty at WashU
The School of Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis was launched in January 2025 and is the first new school at WashU in 100 years. Informed by a 4x4 strategic plan the school aims to promote health and well-being through excellence in interdisciplinary population health science and scholarship, distinction in education, and a deep commitment to local and global impact.
Over the past year, we have built the foundation of an excellent school. We have recruited over 50 primary faculty and over 100 secondary faculty and launched six research networks across public health disciplines; we anticipate full accreditation as a School in the Spring of 2026.
The school is now recruiting senior scholars to serve as distinguished professors. In particular the school is searching for two scholars who can serve as Lauren and Lee Fixel Distinguished Professors and one as the Hamilton Family Distinguished Professor focused on food and nutrition. These professorships are aligned with the university’s Food and Agriculture Research Mission (FARM), a major initiative focused on advancing innovative, interdisciplinary science at the intersection of food systems, nutrition, agriculture, and population health.
In addition to these specific positions the school seeks faculty at all ranks and across disciplines, including epidemiology, biostatistics, behavioral and mental health, and health policy, as well as scholars whose research and teaching aligns with the school’s work in food and nutrition, dissemination and implementation science, health communication science, health policy, global health, and planetary health. We especially welcome applicants who share our commitment to transformative interdisciplinary scholarship that addresses pressing public health challenges locally, nationally, and globally.
All potential candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter that specifies their position of interest and a CV. Applications should be submitted here: https://schoolofpublichealth.washu.edu/about/opportunities/
