Position Announcement
The Department of Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning (MQR) at Utah Valley University (UVU) invites applications for two tenure-track positions, beginning August 2026. These teaching-focused positions are for educators with expertise in Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning, including Numeracy, Intermediate Algebra, and Quantitative Reasoning and Statistics. MQR is part of UVU's College of Science, emphasizing student-centered learning, collaborative approaches, and innovative pedagogy. Instructional Expectations
The successful candidates will teach courses in Numeracy, Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning, and Statistical Reasoning. They will contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and student learning outcomes. Key focuses include teaching mathematical thinking, appreciating mathematics in daily life, preparing students for future courses, and fostering a student-centered environment.
Scholarly Expectations
Candidates will engage in scholarly activities that enhance teaching and benefit students, such as research, collaborative projects, and staying current in their field to inform instruction. Opportunities exist for interdisciplinary collaboration and applied learning with industry partners.
Service Expectations
Candidates will participate in university, college, or departmental committees, task forces, and support accreditation efforts.
Faculty Development and Innovation in Teaching
UVU provides resources for pedagogical growth, including workshops and technology support through the Office of Teaching and Learning.
Faculty Workload
The workload includes 24 credit hours of teaching and 6 credit hours of scholarship per year, plus service. Tenure requires excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, with support through mentoring and development.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Mathematics/Statistics Education, Instructional Science, Quantitative Methods, or related field.
- At least 18 semester hours of graduate-level mathematics or statistics coursework (ABD candidates considered if degree completed by August 1, 2026).
- Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or data science.
- Experience teaching high school or college-level mathematics, especially for non-traditional learners.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
