Offer Description
Activities and context: The research will focus on the forensic discrimination of Brazilian beef, employing data fusion strategies and artificial intelligence based on chemical analysis results. The researcher will be responsible for the integration, processing, and interpretation of data, applying statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to support the traceability of the beef’s geographical origin. She/he will participate in all stages of the project, including planning and supervision of sample collection and preparation, as well as writing scientific papers and reports.
Mandatory requirements: PhD completed in the fields of agricultural or biological sciences; practical experience in artificial intelligence, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, and complex data fusion; proficiency in parametric and non-parametric statistical methods, bootstrapping simulation techniques, and experimental design; advanced knowledge of SAS software; fluency in English, both spoken and written, for participation in international activities and collaborations; availability to reside in Piracicaba, state of São Paulo, Brazil, throughout the project development period.
Desirable requirements: Previous experience in forensic science, food traceability and authentication, and application of nuclear analytical methods; experience in conception, preparation, structuring, and development of scientific research projects; a track record of participation in and presentation of research findings at international scientific conferences and events; experience in international academic and scientific cooperation and collaboration; experience in mentoring, supervising, and advising undergraduate students.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
