Colgate University invites applications for the Olive B. O'Connor Fellowship in Creative Writing. This year we invite applications for a one-year fellowship, renewable for a second year, in fiction. Writers who have recently completed an MFA, MA, or PhD in creative writing, and who need a year or two to complete their first book, are encouraged to apply. The selected writer will spend up to two academic years (late August 2027 to early May 2029) at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The fellow will teach two multigenre introduction to creative writing courses in the first year; in the second year, if renewed, the fellow will teach three courses, possibly including an upper-level workshop in fiction. In the second year, the fellow will also give a public reading from their work in progress. The fellow may be asked to co-supervise one or more honors theses each year. They will also have the option to assist with the Colgate Writers Conference in early June of both years for additional compensation.
