Finance Specialist II
Job Description
The Finance Specialist II is responsible for supporting the Executive Director of Finance and Administration in providing a wide range of business, budget, and accounting support. This position identifies process improvement opportunities and solves problems by analyzing current processes and requirements, documenting, recommending, and communicating processes to stakeholders at School of Health Sciences (SHS).
Primary Purpose:
The Finance Specialist II supports the Executive Director of Finance and Administration in business, budget, and accounting support, identifying process improvements.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, maintain, and present comprehensive financial dashboards, reports, budget tracking, and analytical reports for various stakeholders.
- Analyze financial processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
- Support development of annual and multi-year budget plans and funding proposals.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for different fund types.
- Work with the Executive Director to analyze and track departmental budgets.
- Review operational budgets for trends and cost savings.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
- Collaborate on financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Evaluate complex financial transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure timely accounting close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reimbursement requests, and payment requests.
- Partner with program managers on financial needs and guidance.
- Oversee ProCard transactions and reconciliations.
- Process payment requests and ensure compliance.
- Prepare forms for independent contractors.
- Monitor compliance with internal controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with 3-5 years experience; or high school diploma with 6-8 years experience.
- Three years of experience in financial analysis or related functions.
- Three years of Excel skills including financial modeling.
- One year of experience preparing journal entries.

Physical Requirements:
Requires extended sitting, computer use, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based during normal business hours.
Hiring Range:
$68,640.00 - $73,408.00 per year.
