Financial Aid Coordinator - Communications
Job Description
The Financial Aid Coordinator - Communications supports all students and their families by providing a top-notch customer service experience and educating students and families on the financial aid process and overall financial literacy. The coordinator will embrace our relationship-rich culture by managing our front-line customer services. Additionally, the Coordinator will create and publish effective communication pieces (print, digital, e-mail, and system communications) to support and educate our students about financial aid and financial literacy throughout the enrollment process (application-graduation). The coordinator will work closely with the Associate Director of Financial Aid and the Director of Financial Aid to support the department and University's mission.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage daily customer service duties via the phone, in person, email, front desk coverage and over web-meeting software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- Provide accurate financial aid information to prospective and current students and their families.
- Administer and coordinate the University's financial literacy program.
- Review and analyze daily reports related to the processing of aid awards, including, but not limited to, refund reports and disbursement error reports.
- Review and process received documents to resolve aid eligibility, which includes, but is not limited to, federal C-flags and state grant eligibility (to include DHS verification, citizenship verification, and EASE grant verification).
- Assist the Director of Financial Aid Operations and Assistant Director (Compliance) with validation of unofficial withdrawals for timely Title IV compliance.
- Develop communications for the Office of Student Financial Aid, including system notices and instructions.
- Assist the Director of Financial Aid, Operations, with processes related to Veterans' aid and certifying VA funds.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of the monthly Financial Aid newsletter.
- Responsible for state programming discrepancy reporting and disbursement.
- Provide basic data entry of forms and track documents and files as necessary.
- Assist with the book voucher process.
- Support the Enrollment division with events and initiatives that require some weekend and evening hours.
- Embrace the University's Mission and Values in daily work.
- Work on other special projects and/or complete other duties which may also be assigned when appropriate.
- The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Admissions Operations and their team to ensure timely, accurate, and segmented communication. In addition, the director will support the Director of Financial Aid Operations and the Director of Financial Aid in aligning with the department and the University's mission.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associate's degree
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to function and appropriately prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Must be a cooperative team player.
- Customer service experience and acumen.
- Banner and/or Slate platforms experience preferred.
- Ability to verbally communicate in a second language preferred (English as primary language).
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- One (1) year or more of full-time Financial Aid or Higher Education experience is preferred.
