Financial Manager CoE CREATIC (with working hours 40 per week)
The CREATIC Centre of Excellence of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University in Brno was established on 1 January 2024 and focuses on research and development of cell and gene therapy for selected rare diseases.
Position Overview
The Financial Manager of the Centre of Excellence is responsible for the comprehensive financial management and economic administration of the centre in accordance with the university’s internal regulations, national legislation, and the requirements of funding providers (especially EU Structural Funds, national grant agencies, and international programs). The position is key to achieving the centre’s objectives and ensuring the financial stability, transparency, and sustainability of the centre’s research and innovation activities.

The scope of your work will be:
- Strategic planning and comprehensive financial management of the Centre of Excellence, including operational, institutional, project-based, and earmarked funding sources
- Preparation of financial and investment plans and budgets, including ongoing updates and monitoring
- Management of the centre’s own revenues (contract research, services, technology transfer, production), including planning, recording, and evaluation
- Preparation of financial reports for the centre’s management, the university, and funding providers
- Pricing of the centre’s services and products; participation in the development and updating of the investment plan
- Financial control, methodological coordination, and oversight of projects funded from national and international sources
- Monitoring the use of financial resources, evaluating financial risks, and proposing corrective measures
- Consolidation of financial data across funding sources and preparation of regular financial reports for management
- Close cooperation with other departments of the Faculty of Medicine and Masaryk University (finance, legal, project offices)
- Ensuring readiness for internal and external audits, including compliance with public funding and financial management rules
- Methodological support for department heads in financial management
- Setting up, implementing, and controlling financial processes and flows within the Centre of Excellence
- Other economic and financial activities related to the operation of a non-profit and publicly funded institution
Required qualification:
- University degree in Economics (Master’s level minimum)
- Proven experience in financial management (min. 3 years)
- Experience with financial management of investment and non-investment projects funded from national or international sources is an advantage
- Good knowledge of accounting; previous experience as a Chief/Senior Accountant
- Familiarity with accounting and tax regulations relevant to public universities
- Strong analytical thinking, ability to work with financial data, and interpret economic indicators
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Active knowledge of the Czech language
- Active knowledge of English (min. B2)
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software

Gross Salary: 75 000 – 90 000 CZK
