The researcher will join the team of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid working in the SafeNet project funded by Horizon Europe (https://safenet-project.eu/) and will contribute to the following main tasks and analyses, as well as to other general activities of the project:
- Mapping corridors between high ecological value forests in Europe.
- Setting conservation and restoration priorities for safeguarding the connectivity of the forest network.
- Assessing the potential impacts of climate change and land use change on connectivity and migration potential.

- BSc related to ecology, forests and the environment: forestry, biology, environmental management or related bachelor degrees.

- Knowledge and background in landscape ecology and ecological connectivity.
- Knowledge and background in climate change scenarios and climate change effects on biodiversity.
- Skills in landscape connectivity modeling software.
- Skills in GIS and R.
- Soft skills: self-management, teamwork, communication, etc.
- Sufficient level of Spanish and English.
- Availability to travel within and outside Spain when needed for the project activities and related collaborations.

The selected candidate will be part of the research group of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) working in the SafeNet project at CBDS (Centro de I+D+i para la Conservación de la Biodiversidad y el Desarrollo Sostenible) and ETSI Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural of UPM. This will allow the candidate to interact and collaborate with the members of the research group at UPM and with several other colleagues and partners abroad that work closely with the UPM group in SafeNet, thereby providing significant synergies and an international perspective and dimension to the research activity of the candidate. The candidate will contribute to and gain experience in recently developed and ongoing methods for connectivity analysis and biodiversity modelling in the face of climate and land use changes, and in state-of-the-art tools to support management, conservation and restoration efforts for sustaining forest biodiversity, migration potential and resilience at wide spatial and temporal scales in Europe.

The duration of the tasks linked to the line of research will be 26 months.
