Fitness Facility Specialist
The Opportunity
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Fitness Facility Specialist Intern to provide professional oversight of the Eagle Fitness Center during evening and weekend operations. This position serves as the primary on-site leader responsible for facility operations, student staff supervision, risk management, emergency response, and operational excellence across multiple fitness and wellness program areas. The successful candidate will help foster a safe, welcoming, and professional environment while supporting the university's commitment to student wellness and engagement.

Compensation
The compensation of this position is $25,200 which will be paid bi-weekly and includes an optional university meal plan. This internship does NOT include any fringe benefits such as housing or health insurance.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience supervising staff in recreation, fitness, facility operations, or a related environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, customer service, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within a designated timeframe.
- Ability to oversee multiple operational areas while maintaining safety and service standards.
Preferred
- Associate's degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing or supervising student employees.
- Experience in fitness facility, recreation center, or wellness program operations.
Schedule
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Evening, weekend, and special event coverage may occasionally be required.
