Float OB Sonographer
Job Summary
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, at the University of Colorado has an opening for a float OBGYN sonographer between 0.5 to 0.9 FTE who is interested in learning MFM-level ultrasound scans with the intention to provide support to the freestanding Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic, located in Denver, Parker, Littleton, and Fort Collins, CO. This position reports directly to the MFM Practice Manager and indirectly to the Medical Directors and the MFM Business Services Program Director.
This position will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with no on-call obligation. Each MFM clinic has two to three sonographers onsite each day. Each sonographer covers one room with an average of 8 patient scans per day.
Key Responsibilities
- At the direction of a qualified physician or advance practice provider (APP), performs a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of disease in humans.
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders in order to perform prescribed study.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
