About the Position
The Vaughan Memorial Library invites applications from candidates for a full-time probationary/continuing appointment at the rank of Librarian I, II, or III commencing on July 1st, 2026. As part of our strategic priority to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, this is a focused hire for a Black or Indigenous librarian.
As a member of Research Services at the Vaughan Memorial Library, the successful candidate will take on liaison responsibilities for one or more academic departments. Liaison workloads are reviewed and assigned annually in consultation with members of Research Services. The anticipated starting portfolio includes liaison responsibility for the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, though subject assignments may evolve over time in response to the library’s needs and the candidate’s experience and interests.
Liaison duties include but are not limited to: developing and delivering information literacy sessions; providing one-on-one research consultations for students and faculty in liaison departments; collections development and management in liaison subject areas; maintaining online research guides for liaison subject areas; communicating and collaborating with faculty and students in liaison departments.
In addition to liaison responsibilities, librarians at the Vaughan Memorial Library are each assigned a coordinating responsibility. Coordinating responsibilities are specialized areas of work that reflect the priorities and functions of the library and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in scholarly and professional activity, which may include academic or community-based research and publication, and participation in academic and professional conferences. The candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and/or indigenization in their work, and the interest and willingness to participate in service and administrative activities within the department, the university, and externally.
Salary Range:
- Librarian I: $72,359 - $91,959
- Librarian II: $83,559 - $103,159
- Librarian III: $100,359 - $125,559
Salary will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
Academic Qualifications
Master of Library Science or its equivalent from an institution accredited by the American Library Association or an equivalent organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing research assistance, reference services, or information consultations in any context
- Experience delivering instruction, training, or educational programming in any context
- Experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with faculty, students, researchers, or community members
- Experience with or demonstrated interest in collections development, resource evaluation, or curation in any context
