Job Duties:
Job Description Summary: Oversees daily food service operations and performs food preparation activities in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
- Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
- Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
Department: Retail Services:
The mission of Restaurant Operations is to provide a quality dining experience at an affordable price that enhances campus life and supports the overall mission of the University. It is the responsibility of Restaurant Operations to operate in a fiscally responsible manner, contribute fair-share support to the University, and sustain adequate reserves for future growth.
Compensation: $19-23 per hour
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment
- Experience working in a large volume operation, such as catering, university or similar - gross sales in excess of 1 million
- Basic Food Prep Experience
- Experience with staff training and employee scheduling
- Two or more years experience with mentoring, counseling, and disciplining staff
- Experience using POS to process payments
- Knowledge of essential food service equipment
- Certificate, or Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree (or higher) in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or related field
- ServSafe certification, Food Handler, or Manager certification
