Food Service Supervisor
Job Summary:
This position exists to provide coordination and direction to the City View Café, the Coffee Shop and the catering staff, to ensure adequate internal controls and compliance with state and Federal laws and regulations. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to keeping adequate staffing, setting expectations and providing training for customer service, sanitation and food quality standards, managing and supervising the City View Café, Coffee Shop, and Catering and working with the Events Coordinator to oversee the facilities rental operations. The City View Café, the coffee shop and catering exist to provide auxiliary services to students, staff and organizations within the community. The food service supervisor position is responsible all functions of the cafeteria, catering and the coffee shop by ensuring adequate revenue is generated to exceed or meet cost related to food service operations. Job Duties:
- Lead, supervise, and direct Cafeteria, Coffee Shop and Catering department personnel, including but not limited to hiring, coaching and developing, promoting, rewarding, assigning and reviewing work, directing work, approving transfers, disciplining, suspending, discharging, and adjusting grievances to ensure that staff are skilled and available as needed, collective bargaining agreements and Minnesota State policies and procedures are implemented and appropriately enforced, and projects are staffed correctly to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
- Manage all functions related to financial operations of the food service departments.
- Maintain operations of the food service departments
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $31.66 to $45.92 hourly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees, students, college staff, administration and members of the public using the cafeteria, coffee shop and catering services that include a diverse population;
- Extensive knowledge of modern principles, practices and financial aspects of large-scale food service management;
- Experience with staff management and supervision including hiring, work assignments, professional development, performance evaluations, & coaching;
- Analytical and financial skills to develop and monitor budgets;
- Extensive knowledge of health, sanitation and safety principles and practices involved in large scale food preparation, nutritional values and fundamental dietary principles;
- Knowledge of the uses and operating methods of equipment and tools used in food service facilities and maintenance of equipment;
- Experience working with food service POS software;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in food service or hospitality management;
- Experience in college food service management;
- Experience with creating policies and procedures related to food service operations;
- Experience in creating and implementing a food service business plan;
- ServeSafe Food Manager Certification.
