Daanish University
Build an Institution. Shape a Nation.
FOUNDING FACULTY — COMPUTER SCIENCE & ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Daanish University is an emerging institution in Islamabad, Pakistan, operating independently under a trust and offering rigorous STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) education that converges with civilizational values to shape the future leaders of Pakistan. We develop graduates with strong fundamentals, multidisciplinary ability, and ethical grounding — drawn from diverse socio-economic backgrounds purely on merit. A national Outreach Program identifies, nurtures, and…
fully funds the most talented students from across the country.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As founding faculty in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering, you will design the curriculum and build the infrastructure for a new department — spanning algorithms, systems, software engineering, and AI/ML on the CS side; circuits, electronics, signal processing, control, power systems, and embedded/digital design on the EE side — while helping lead Daanish's AI Governance & Democratizing Technology Grand Challenge Institute and connecting your research to the Intelligent Systems & Digital Engineering and Natural Resources & Energy Grand Challenge Institutes. You will shape how a new generation of Pakistani technologists is trained.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and teach core and advanced courses in your discipline — algorithms, systems, software engineering, and AI/ML (CS); circuits, electronics, signal processing, control systems, and embedded/digital design (EE) Establish computing labs, hardware/fabrication spaces, and teaching and research infrastructure — from equipment procurement and cloud/compute access to prototyping space and safety protocols Build a research program in an area such as AI/ML, systems, security, HCI, applied computing, power systems, embedded systems, robotics, communications, or semiconductor/VLSI design Contribute to the AI Governance & Democratizing Technology Grand Challenge Institute, and collaborate across disciplines — with Computer Science colleagues on intelligent systems and with the Natural Resources & Energy institute on power and grid challenges Mentor undergraduate research, capstone projects, hardware build experiences, and student-led startups or open-source work Help to recruit founding colleagues and shape university governance
WHO WE SEEK
Builders, not maintainers — accomplished academics with a demonstrated capacity to create and innovate, experimenting rather than optimizing, and collaborating across disciplines. We welcome established scholars, newly qualified PhDs, and those nearing completion. International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related field A research or applied record in a core area — software systems, AI/ML, security, HCI, power systems, control, signal processing, embedded systems, or communications Comfort building infrastructure and curriculum from scratch in a start-up academic environment, including laboratory, fabrication, and safety systems PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Industry, startup, or product experience alongside academic work Experience in AI governance, policy, or responsible/ethical AI Experience in power/energy systems, robotics, semiconductor/VLSI design, or wireless communications relevant to national infrastructure needs A track record of mentoring student projects, entrepreneurial ventures, hardware-based competitions, or hands-on design-build experiences
WHAT WE OFFER
Academic freedom, a strong research culture, balanced teaching loads, transparent policies, and a highly competitive package — provident fund, subsidized housing, healthcare, and relocation assistance — at a world-class, fully residential campus in Islamabad.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply on a rolling basis via our careers site with:
A letter of interest (maximum 2 pages) A detailed CV, with examples of programs, courses, or labs you have built Two references A brief vision statement: "What should undergraduate computer science and electrical engineering education look like in 2036?" Applications: careers@daanishuniversitytrust.org
ELIGIBILITY
Open to Pakistani nationals and qualified international scholars. The University assists with visa processing and relocation for foreign nationals. PhD or terminal degree required or demonstrated experience leading major higher-education initiatives.
