THE OPPORTUNITY
As founding faculty in Physics, you will build both the curriculum and the physical infrastructure of a new physics program — lecture sequences, experimental labs, and equipment procurement — while establishing a research program that connects naturally to Daanish's energy, climate, and materials Grand Challenge Institutes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and teach core and advanced physics courses (mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum and modern physics) Establish teaching and research laboratories from the ground up, including equipment specification and safety protocols Build a research program in experimental or theoretical physics, with opportunities to link to Natural Resources & Energy and Planetary Systems, Climate & Infrastructure institutes Mentor undergraduate research and hands-on, maker-centered learning experiences Contribute to the university's broader STEAM-integrated curriculum design Help recruit founding colleagues and shape department and university governance
WHO WE SEEK
Builders, not maintainers — accomplished academics with a demonstrated capacity to create and innovate, experimenting rather than optimizing, and collaborating across disciplines. We welcome established scholars, newly qualified PhDs, and those nearing completion. International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field A research record in experimental or theoretical physics Willingness and ability to build laboratory infrastructure and safety systems from scratch in a start-up environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in energy systems, materials physics, condensed matter, or computational/astrophysics Prior experience establishing or running a teaching or research laboratory Interest in applied, mission-driven research tied to national challenges
WHAT WE OFFER
Academic freedom, a strong research culture, balanced teaching loads, transparent policies, and a highly competitive package — provident fund, subsidised housing, healthcare, and relocation assistance — at a world-class, fully residential campus in Islamabad.

- Apply on a rolling basis via our careers site with:
- A letter of interest (maximum 2 pages)
- A detailed CV, with examples of programs, courses, or labs you have built
- Two references A brief vision statement: "What should undergraduate physics education look like in 2036?"
