Front Desk Assistant (Student) (FWS)

Summary: The Dean’s Office in the School of International Service (SIS) seeks up to five (5) highly motivated undergraduate students to work as part-time Front Desk Assistants. Students must hold a Federal Work Study award. SIS Sophomores (AY 26-27) are strongly preferred. Working in shifts, the assistants will greet the Dean’s guests, assist visitors, answer the main telephone line, maintain office supplies, and organize the reception area to ensure the Dean’s Suite is a highly professional and welcoming environment. Shifts are for up to 8 hours per week depending on schedule and availability. The position reports to the Director of Administration, Special Assistant to the Dean. Start date is the week beginning August 31, 2026.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 8 hours per week.
Salary Range: $18.40 - $19.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interact appropriately with visitors to the Dean’s Suite: faculty, staff, high level visitors, students, current and prospective AU family guests.
- Strong work ethic.
- Discretion and good judgment.
- Professional attitude.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Ability to use initiative with minimal supervision.
