Assist patrons with special physical needs and/or limitations;
enforce fire codes inside and outside the building; and respond to
emergencies
Coordinate efforts of producers, Box Office staff, ushers,
security staff, custodial staff, and technical staff in assuring
swift and safe seating of audience, timely start of performance,
and safe, clean, and comfortable conditions for patrons and
performers
Technical Responsibilities (approx. 10%)
- Assist the Production Manager in maintaining the theatrical
lighting control and audio systems in the Complex, as well as
operating the piano and wheelchair lifts in Sanders Theatre
Working Conditions:
The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its
discretion and based upon operational needs and objectives and
consistent with College Policy, which requires 5 days on-site in
Cambridge, MA during term time (first day of classes through
commencement), with the exception of student breaks. When not
working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in
hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in
compliance with the University’s Policy on
Employment Outside of Massachusetts .
Additional details about the College policy will be discussed
during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding
sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work
location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, standing, stooping, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50
pounds.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in event execution and house management
at a performance venue
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in the operation of theatrical lighting and audio
systems
- Preferably in an academic setting
- Ability and willingness to regularly work a flexible and varied
schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
