FT Admin - Program Director of Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing
Job Summary
The Program Director is responsible for the oversight of the Surgical Technology associate degree and Sterile Processing certificate programs. They ensure the programs reflect current work place and industry standards/requirements and remain in compliance with State, accreditation, and other partnering organizations that restrict program operations and curriculum. Provides vision and leadership in developing innovative and alternative program delivery models that expands accessibility to diverse populations while addressing employer workforce needs. The Program Director prepares program budgets, monitors expenditures, supervises all faculty and staff within the programs – which includes faculty scheduling and pay, assists with curriculum development, advises students, mentors and evaluates faculty and staff, and provides didactic, lab, and/or clinical/externship/internship instruction as needed. They provide coordination of the clinical component and is the liaison between LCC and the clinical affiliates. They serve as the liaison with the external/community stakeholders and with other divisions in the college to promote student success. The Program Director of Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing must be knowledgeable about each area they oversee, higher education best practices, and accreditation processes. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree (or higher) in Surgical Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in any field from a regionally accredited college or university. Minimum total of five years of experience, as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years. Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); professional certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification for healthcare professionals; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment. Member of the Association of Surgical Technology (AST) within 3 months of hire; membership must be maintained throughout the duration of employment. Significant teaching experience (at the College level preferred). Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning. Demonstrated administrative/management/supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in any field from a regionally accredited college or university. 3+ years of teaching experience at the College level. Demonstrated experience with student success and the assessment of student learning. Significant academic administrative and multidisciplinary experience (i.e., budgeting, curricula design, and evaluation). Demonstrated experience with program/college accreditation processes.
