The Blinn College District is searching for a FT EMS Faculty Waller area at our Waller Campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:

Job Summary

The EMS faculty member has the responsibility to ensure that course objectives are met through provisions of assigned lecture content and supervising campus lab and clinical experiences. The faculty position also involves collaboration with other faculty members of multiple programs.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Utilization of established syllabi in the course(s)-consisting of, but not limited to, ECA, EMT, Paramedic, EMS-Instructor, Dual Credit at the ISD, and Continuing Education offerings.
  2. Preparation of lecture outlines and notes based on course objectives in advance to program director.
  3. Promotion of high standards of excellence in assigned courses.
  4. Demonstration of positive morale and team spirit. This will include support of the college and program mission, philosophies, and goals for students and community.
  5. Participation in curriculum development, review and revision.
  6. Presentation of course content in classroom setting and attending class sessions.
  7. Maintains EMS Lab equipment inventory and requests needed supplies from the EMS Program Director in a timely manner.
  8. Ensures the availability of required training equipment and materials for each lab.
  9. Help coordinate Lab instructor schedules
  10. Coordinates Lab curriculum with the EMS Program Director and EMS faculty.
  11. Serves as instructor in the Waller area at the ISD campus and/or CTE Workforce building.
  12. Works with other EMS faculty to determine new EMS lab equipment needs.
  13. Preparation of lab outlines and notes based on course objectives and outlines in advance and provides copies of the same to Coordinator.
  14. Planning and implementation of National and State Skills Testing for all levels of students.
  15. Participates in EMS department curriculum development and updates.
  16. Documentation according to college and program policy.
  17. Making recommendations for equipment, materials, and supplies.
  18. Keeping informed and evaluating major trends in the specific areas of instruction methodology and technology.
  19. Participation in program and college faculty meetings and activities.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications

  1. Must have at least an Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services.
  2. Must be a Paramedic currently licensed in the State of Texas, National Registry is preferred.
  3. Have at least 3 years' field experience as a paramedic.
  4. Must be certified as an EMS Instructor
  5. Certified in Paramedic, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and PHTLS (or similar equivalent)

Minimum Competencies

  1. Computer skills, instructional design, organizational skills and excellent communication are a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in a health-related field.

Preferred Competencies

  1. Experience in EMS education.

Special Notes To Applicants

This position is based at the Waller campus but may require travel and course offerings in Brenham and/or Bryan areas.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Have sufficient hearing ability to respond appropriately to students, patients, clients, and coworkers; provide accurate patient assessment; and recognize alarms and signals.
  2. Have sufficient visual acuity to allow for patient assessment from a distance, read English in regular to extra fine print on pharmaceutical labels and graduations on an insulin syringe.
  3. Have sufficient verbal ability to effectively communicate instructions and directions to students and coworkers in a classroom, laboratory, and clinical setting.
  4. Have sufficient physical strength to handle equipment, transfer patient or equipment without physical impairment; and stand, walk, crawl, or kneel for prolonged periods of time.
  5. Have sufficient manual dexterity to allow for handling of small objects and controls, palpation of muscles and/or bony prominences, placement of IV catheters and performance of venipuncture, administration of oral and parenteral medications, and monitoring patients.

Work hours: All full-time faculty positions at Blinn College require an on-campus presence of 40 hours per week during regular business hours

This is a 10 month, benefits eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Optional coverages can begin on your first active duty date. Leave time includes 16 hours personal each year and 8 hours sick leave for each month of contract. Paid leave is provided for college designated holidays, spring break, thanksgiving and Christmas break (approx. 25 days per year).
