Position Overview
This research assistant is a grant-funded position to support a
recently awarded research grant from the LEAP program of the
Burroughs-Wellcome Foundation. This research assistant will work
full-time in the organic chemistry laboratory performing organic
synthesis and characterization.
Responsibilities
Synthesize new fluorogenic ester substrates
Prepare starting materials for fluorogenic ester synthesis
Perform full chemical characterization of all compounds
Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook
Update chemical inventory
Ship final products to collaborators for biological
testing
Maintain a clean laboratory space
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required
At least (2) years of previous research experience

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred experience in synthetic organic chemistry, chemical
biology, and/or NMR
