Mission of Division of Bioscience, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Pharmaceutical sciences integrate diverse disciplines to understand biological functions and diseases at levels ranging from molecules to whole organisms and to develop effective therapeutic interventions. Because the path from biological discovery to clinical evaluation spans multiple biological scales, progress requires the integration of knowledge across these levels. As therapeutic modalities expand beyond small molecules to include antibodies, nucleic acid medicines, gene and cell therapies, pharmaceutical sciences play an increasingly important role in understanding biological mechanisms, identifying therapeutic targets, evaluating efficacy, and developing new therapies.
The Division of Bioscience advances research into biological functions and disease mechanisms at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal levels, while developing innovative drug discovery strategies and therapeutic modalities in collaboration with the Divisions of Organic Chemistry and Structural Biology.

We are seeking candidates for a Full Professor position in a field that advances pharmaceutical sciences by integrating the life sciences to understand biological phenomena and diseases at levels ranging from molecules to whole organisms, and to develop innovative drug discovery strategies and novel therapeutic modalities. Candidates are expected to have a distinctive research vision and an outstanding track record of research achievements, as well as the ambition and ability to pioneer new directions in life science-based drug discovery. They are also expected to contribute proactively to the advancement of education, research, and university administration.

- Conduct education and research in biological sciences aiming for pharmaceutical sciences and related fields
- Participate in management and collaboration within the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and university-wide administration
- Research:
Research Focus: Through interdisciplinary approaches in life sciences, we seek to understand biological phenomena—particularly biological functions and the pathological states and diseases arising from their disruption— from the molecular to the organismal level, and to translate this understinding into the development of drug discovery strategies and novel therapeutic modalities.
