As group leader, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing the laboratory's research lines. In addition, she/he will be expected to secure extramural funding from highly competitive national and international funding sources to support these projects and to publish scientific results in high-impact international journals in the fields of cardiovascular research, general medicine, and/or multidisciplinary sciences. including research and technical staff. Additional responsibilities include coordination and management tasks requested by CNIC leadership, including participation in committees, and support in other institutional needs that may arise.

Specific Requirements
Mandatory requirements:
- PhD in the field of Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, etc.)
- At least 10 years of experience as Group Leader in an internationally recognized research center in the cardiovascular field (6 years and 8 months for individuals with a disability degree exceeding 66%, and 8 years and 4 months for individuals with a disability degree exceeding 33%).
- Excellent recent scientific publication record, fulfilling at least one of the following criteria (bibliometric parameters according to Web of Science/Journal Citation Reports):
- ≥ 6 original articles as corresponding author (or co-corresponding author) published in the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021) in journals ranked in the first decile of their field (according to the year of publication).
- ≥1 original articles as corresponding author (or co-corresponding author) published in the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021) in journals ranked in the TOP3 of their field (according to the year of publication).
- ≥1 original articles as corresponding author (or co-corresponding author) published in the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021) classified as Highly Cited Paper according to Web of Science.
- Experience as Principal Investigator and/or Coordinator of research grants obtained from international funding sources (funding agency based outside Spain) during the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021).
- Main research focus aligned with the field of cerebrovascular disease

Evaluation Criteria:
- C1. Scientific production: publications as corresponding author (or co-corresponding author) in first decile journals during the last 5 years (i.e., date of publication since August 2021). Greater value will be given to original research articles. Only published papers (or papers available online ahead of print) will be considered. The CV must include the complete list of authors, journal's impact factor, and ranking in the year of publication for each article. 30%
- C2. Fundraising (international): Projects obtained from international funding sources (funding agency based outside Spain) as Principal Investigator or Coordinator during the last 5 years (i.e., active projects in August 2021 onwards). The CV must specify for each project the role of the candidate, amount granted, funding period, and funding agency. 25%
- C3. Fundraising (national): Projects obtained from national funding sources as Principal Investigator or Coordinator during the last 5 years (i.e. active projects in August 2021 onwards). Evaluation will consider funding source relevance, amount granted, and number of projects. The CV must specify for each project the role of the candidate, amount granted, funding period, and funding agency. 10%
- C4. International recognition: Participation in international committees, advisory boards, grant evaluation panels, invited lectures at major international meetings, and editorial boards during the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021). 10%
- C5. Training and mentoring: Experience mentoring young researchers (PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, MD trainees, etc), and participation in training activities during the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021). Evaluation will consider number of PhD students and postdoctoral fellows supervised, career progression of supervised researchers (which should be indicated in the CV), and involvement in training activities. 5%
- C6. Impact on society: Translation of research discoveries into clinical practice, patents, industrial collaborations, and societal impact during the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021). This criterion will be valued according to the relevance of research for society/patients, number and relevance of patents, and research interactions with industry. 5%
- C7. Cerebrovascular focus: Scientific publications and research projects led as corresponding author (or co-corresponding author) or Principal Investigator suring the last 5 years (i.e., since August 2021) specifically focused on cerebrovascular disease. 10%
- C8. Gender underrepresentation. Positive action criterion in accordance with Action S1 of the 2021-2024 Equality Plan, addressing underrepresentation by category. 5%
