Position Overview
IBEI invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistance position within the project Jean Monnet Chair GLOBALEUTY, funded by the European Commission (101175018).
The successful candidate will be fully integrated into IBEI’s vibrant research environment.
- Expected start date: 15 October 2026
- Duration: until 14 April 2027
- Monthly salary equivalent to Research Assistance positions in the Catalan university system.

About the Project
The Jean Monnet Chair in Global Actor EU: The International Relations of the European Union in a Competitive and Fractured World (GLOBALEUTY) is a project which combines dynamic and didactic teaching with state-of-the art research and interactive dissemination on the topic of the EU’s as a global actor. The project is firmly anchored within the framework of European Union studies with its focus on what the EU ‘is’ and ‘does’ on the international stage, and how such global actorness is made more complex by a number of current challenges related to a competitive and fragmented world context.
The GLOBALEUTY project pursues a set of general objectives, among which we highlight teaching and dissemination:
- in terms of teaching, GLOBALEUTY delivers state-of-the-art, specialized courses on the EU as a global actor to graduate students to provide them with in-depth knowledge and skills which will situate them in an advantageous position on the job market.
- in terms of dissemination, GLOBALEUTY fosters public awareness and dialogue on what the EU is and does on the international by ways of different knowledge-transfer activities to specialized as well as non-specialized interlocutors.
Responsibilities of the GLOBALEUTY Research Assistant:
- Provide teaching support and research assistance to the Chair
- Produce audiovisual material for the GLOBALEUTY website, including the production of thematic podcasts, informative videos, short blogs and commentary on EU foreign policy news reports.
- Participation in outreach events on the topic of EU foreign policy and/or international security.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a person with the following characteristics:
- PhD in International Relations, or related fields.
- Proven teaching and research experience on the European Union’s foreign policy and on European/international security.
- Strong skills in communication and preferably a proven track record about academic dissemination activities and tailored outreach strategies
- Excellent command of English and Spanish (oral and written).
