Riga Technical University, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, invites applications for a Full Professor position in Chemical Engineering and its Interdisciplinary Fields with guaranteed centralized funding for the initial six-year appointment period, and the possibility of renewal based on performance and institutional needs.

Research responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

• conduct innovative, high-impact scientific research in one or more of the following priority areas: Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Biorefinery, Polymer Technologies, Water Technologies;
• demonstrate the ability to secure competitive research funding;
• lead and develop a research team;
• publish research results in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals;
• promote collaboration with industry and contribute to the development of excellence in the above-mentioned fields.

Teaching and academic responsibilities

The appointed Full Professor will be expected to:

• teach undergraduate and graduate courses in core areas of Chemical Engineering, such as Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering, Heat and Mass Transfer Processes, Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics, and related courses;
• supervise MSc and PhD students;
• contribute to curriculum development and academic excellence;
• support the overall development of the study process and academic environment.

Specific Requirements

• Hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field;
• Demonstrate strong potential in both research and education;
• Have experience in teaching and supervision at all study levels, with at least 3 supervised PhD students;
• Possess excellent communication skills in written and spoken English;
• at least 3 (three) years of experience in the position of an associate professor or professor and internationally recognized experience in the area of specialization.
• Achievements of the candidate should follow the requirements stipulated in Appendix 1 to RTU Regulation “On Tenured Professorship at Riga Technical University”

Selection process

5. Copies of documents certifying the acquisition of scientific and academic degrees.
6. Available references regarding the candidate’s previous work, if such references exist, including references or recommendations from cooperation partners, employers, or professional associations; results of student surveys on teaching quality; and information on awards or recognitions.
