Riga Technical University, Rezekne Academy invites applications for a Full Professor position in the fields of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering with guaranteed centralized funding for the initial six-year appointment period, and the possibility of renewal based on performance and institutional needs.

Main activities and responsibilities of the position
Research responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
- conduct innovative, high-impact scientific research in one or more of the following priority areas: Laser Technology, Non-thermal Plasma Technology, Physico-chemical Processes in Material Engineering, Artificial Intelligence-assisted Process Optimization Technologies;
- demonstrate the ability to secure competitive national and international research funding;
- lead and develop an interdisciplinary research team;
- publish research results in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals;
- promote collaboration with regional industry while fostering national and international partnerships, and contribute to the development of excellence in the above-mentioned fields;
- contribute to publicity and engage in educational activities, including media interviews (radio/television), public talks, lectures, workshops;
- promote interdisciplinary collaboration with other RTU structural units to enhance research excellence and innovation.
Teaching and academic responsibilities
The appointed Full Professor will be expected to:
- teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, including courses aligned with the successful candidate’s expertise and the needs of the study programs;
- supervise MSc and PhD students;
- contribute to curriculum development and academic excellence;
- support the overall development of the study process and academic environment.
Specific Requirements
Qualification requirements
- Hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field;
- Demonstrate strong potential in both research and education;
- Have experience in teaching and supervision at all study levels, with at least 3 supervised PhD students;
- Possess excellent communication skills in written and spoken English;
- at least 3 (three) years of experience in the position of an associate professor or professor and internationally recognized experience in the area of specialization.

Applicants must fulfil the eligibility criteria and requirements set out in Annex 1 of the RTU Regulation “On Tenured Professorship at Riga Technical University”, which defines the applicable requirements for this position.
For foreign applicants:

A permanent tenured position with a gross salary of EUR 6,050 per month for a full-time position.
Opportunities to increase overall remuneration are available through attracting and leading externally funded research projects, in accordance with project conditions and RTU regulations.
