Full Professorship (W3) for Experimental Uro-Oncology

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for the

Full Professorship (W3) for Experimental Uro-Oncology (Succession of Prof. Dr. Roland Schüle)

in the department of Urology (Medical Director: Prof. Dr. Ch. Gratzke) to be filled as soon as possible.

The holder of this position will represent the field of “Experimental Uro-Oncology” in research and teaching. She*he will be the director of a Section of the Department of Urology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

Research activities in oncology with a focus on translational Uro-Oncology, for example in the areas of epigenetics, oncogene and tumor suppressor functions, tumor microenvironment or immunotherapy are particularly desired.

We are looking for a person with an excellent and broad research profile, demonstrated by appropriate evidence of performance in the field of the Uro-Oncology, in particular with experience in translating basic scientific developments into the (pre)clinical environment. Successful innovative research projects and extensive third-party funding acquisition in an international context are expected. Previous experience in managing large-scale scientific projects should also be demonstrated. Broad international networking and industrial cooperation in the field of Uro-Oncology would be advantageous.

Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, active participation within the research focus areas of the Faculty of Medicine and participation in Freiburg research networks are expected.

Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree in the life sciences or a medical discipline, a very good dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.

The position is tenured according to § 50 para 1 LHG.
