temperatures. Operates standard cooking equipment including mixing machines, steam cookers, grills, food chippers, food slicers, baking ovens, fryers, and stoves. Reads and interprets production sheets, standardized recipes, and other written instructions. Washes, peels, and cuts vegetables. Establishes and exercises reasonable diligence to secure Blinn College property within this area of responsibility. Work in and assist other areas within food service when needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications At least 3 years of cook experience in institutional or school food service. Minimum Competencies Ability to understand and perform oral instructions. Ability to perform physically demanding activities including walking, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and supervisors. Ability to learn or knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service Ability to care for and use basic food equipment. Ability to learn routine methods and practices of food preparation and service. Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Preferred Qualifications Cook experience in a school, hospital, or institutional setting.
