POSITION SUMMARY:
NSCC seeks a full-time, tenure-track Business Faculty and Program Coordinator for Business Early College Programs. The successful candidate will teach first- and second-year business courses primarily at Early College partner high schools and coordinate Business Early College programs, serving as a bridge between local high schools and the Business Department at the college. Teaching assignments will primarily include Introduction to Business and Computer Applications for Business, or Business Law, in Early College courses, as well as regular college-level (non-Early College) courses in these same subject areas, depending on the candidate's expertise.
Early College programs are intentionally designed to empower students traditionally underrepresented in higher education. MA Early College Designated Programs work to blend elements of high school and college to provide students with the opportunity to experience and complete college level academic coursework on a clearly articulated pathway and simultaneously gain exposure to a variety of career opportunities. This role combines teaching with program coordination and requires a demonstrated commitment to equitable student outcomes, student success, and the mission of the community college. Faculty and coordinators at NSCC teach, advise, and serve students in a collective bargaining/unionized environment consistent with the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) agreement.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, committed to teaching and supporting student with diverse backgrounds, needs, and academic preparedness. As Faculty and Program Coordinator, the candidate will play a leadership role in advancing NSCC's mission to provide high-quality business education while also strengthening Early College pathways that prepare high school students for college success and career readiness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach a full-time schedule of business courses primarily at Early College partner high schools, as well as at NSCC's Lynn and/or Danvers campuses and in-person, hybrid/online modalities as assigned.
- Courses will focus on Introduction to Business, Computer Applications for Business, or Business Law, delivered in both Early College and regular college settings.
- Coordinate Business Early College programs, including scheduling, outreach, and collaboration with high schools and regional partners.
- Prepare syllabi, develop and update curricula, and align courses with student learning outcomes and General Education competencies.
- Serve as academic advisor to students, with particular attention to Early College participants.
- Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week during fall and spring semesters.
- Participate in curriculum development and program review within the Business Department.
- Engage in College service, governance, and committee work as consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
- Use technology effectively to teach, advise, and communicate with students.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and the discipline.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Interim Dean of STEM & Business
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Business from a U.S.-accredited institution; OR graduate degree in Law or Information Systems/Computer Applications from a U.S.-accredited institution with an undergraduate degree in Business or equivalent professional business experience.
- Expertise in Introduction to Business, Computer Applications for Business, or Business Law.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively, with experience teaching in Early College, dual enrollment, or high school partnership settings strongly preferred.
- Commitment to working effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Candidate will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
- Teaching experience in the United States, with preference for Massachusetts community college and Early College experience under a collective bargaining agreement and unionized environment.
- Community College teaching experience beyond Early College partnerships.
- Demonstrated success working with students from diverse and multicultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Early College and dual enrollment models, particularly in Massachusetts.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and instructional technology.
- Ability to develop partnerships with K-12 schools and workforce partners.
- Fluency in Spanish or another language widely spoken in NSCC's service area.
