Mount Saint Mary's University invites applications for a full-time Contractually Limited Term (CLT), 9-month academic-year faculty appointment with assigned time to serve as Clinical Coordinator for the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) hybrid track.

The Clinical Coordinator provides leadership for the practicum and clinical training components of the program. This role oversees student placements, ensures compliance with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) regulations and applicable accreditation standards, and serves as the primary liaison among students, faculty, clinical sites, and university offices.

This is a non-tenure line position. The appointment is one year in length and may be renewed annually contingent upon successful fulfillment of faculty responsibilities. After five successful contract years, the faculty member's contract may be renewed for up to five additional years. Contracts may be renewed continually for up to five years during the final year of each term. Faculty members in CLT positions are eligible to apply for promotion in rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Coordination (Primary Responsibility)

  • Oversee all aspects of student clinical placements in the hybrid MFT program.
  • Develop, vet, and maintain practicum sites consistent with BBS and program standards.
  • Serve as liaison among the University, students, clinical supervisors, community partners, and administrative offices.
  • Monitor student eligibility, readiness, and clinical hour progression to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead pre-practicum orientations, informational meetings, and workshops regarding placement requirements, documentation standards, ethical practice, and licensure pathways.
  • Provide leadership, training, and oversight for practicum course instructors to ensure alignment with BBS regulations and Capstone culmination project standards; serve as the primary liaison between practicum faculty and the department.
  • Contribute to program assessment, documentation, and accreditation-related reporting associated with clinical training.
  • Engages in admissions process: reviews applications, interviews prospective students, and advises incoming students after acceptance.

Teaching and Supervision

  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to innovative, evidence-based pedagogical practices in graduate-level MFT courses, including practicum and/or supervision.
  • Support students' integration of theory, research, and ethical practice within applied clinical settings.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality hybrid instruction.

Advising

  • Provide academic advisement and mentorship to 25 students with a focus on fostering academic, clinical, and professional development.
  • Advise students regarding practicum readiness, site selection considerations, and licensure planning.

Scholarship and Service

  • Maintain an active program of scholarship consistent with CLT expectations.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university service.
  • Attend bi-weekly Master's meetings; contribute to master's team problem-solving and supports master's program social events.
  • Engage with professional and community organizations relevant to marriage and family therapy and clinical training.

Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $75,000 - $96,500

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Job Requirements:

  • Master's in Social Work (MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), or Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) or Doctorate (PhD, EdD, PsyD) in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge of California BBS regulations governing MFT trainees and associates.
  • Experience in clinical supervision and/or practicum training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating clinical placements in a graduate program.
  • Familiarity with BBS accreditation and assessment processes.
  • Experience in hybrid or online graduate education.
