Essential Duties
- Develop and deliver high-quality lectures, laboratories, and seminars in your area of expertise.
- Mentor and advise veterinary students, guiding their academic and professional development.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to design and implement an integrated, competency-based curriculum.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum through active participation in departmental and college-wide committees.
Instructional Activities
- Deliver lectures, labs, and seminars that are engaging, evidence-based, and aligned with current best practices in veterinary education.
- Utilize diverse teaching methodologies to accommodate different learning styles and enhance student engagement.
- Develop assessments that accurately measure student learning and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary science and education to ensure the delivery of up-to-date content.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Clinical Activities
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision to veterinary students during Small Animal Internal Medicine clinical rotations.
- Deliver specialty veterinary care, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and case management.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and referring veterinarians to ensure high-quality patient care and an effective clinical learning environment.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of clinical services, protocols, and teaching activities within the veterinary program.
Research and Scholarly Activities
- Establish and maintain a productive research program that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in your field.
- Seek and secure external funding to support research endeavors.
- Publish research findings in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research at national and international conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the institution and across the veterinary community.
- Engage in interdisciplinary research that aligns with the strategic goals of the UAGM Veterinary School.
Service
- Participate actively in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee work and student advising.
- Contribute to the broader veterinary community through service to professional organizations.
- Engage in community outreach initiatives that promote the mission and vision of the UAGM Veterinary School.
Qualifications
- Required qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Diplomate or board-eligible in Veterinary Nutrition, or residency-trained in Veterinary Nutrition.
- Preferred qualifications: Ph.D.
- Five (5) years of clinical and/or teaching experience in veterinary medicine.
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching and research in specialty area.
- Tracked record of scholarly activity, including publications and successful grant applications.
- Commitment to student-centered education and innovative teaching practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching methodologies.
