Applications are invited for the post of Full /Associate/Assistant Professor in the area of general engineering science, to be held in the School of General Engineering (SGE)/International Research Institute for Multidisciplinary Science (IRI) (SGE: sge.buaa.edu.cn; IRI: iri.buaa.edu.cn) at Beihang University.

Beihang University was founded in 1952 and is one of the nation’s foremost research universities, ranking among the top 10 in China. The SGE is a full-English teaching School that was established in 2016, supported by the Minister of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology of China, to be a pioneering school in new engineering education for next generations of engineering talents and all the courses are taught in English. The IRI was founded in 2012 and has attracted over 400 talents into Beihang to develop interdisciplinary research. The year 2020 witnessed the merger of SGE and IRI, with an ambitious view of establishing a leading research-intensive school focusing on cutting-edge cross-disciplinary research and teaching.

SGE/IRI is constantly looking for highly motivated top talents to join at different levels to support its development. For all posts, applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in the fields of general engineering and science and have appropriate teaching experience with a strong track record in peer-reviewed publications. Applicants for senior levels should, in addition, possess experience in acquisition of external project funding and outstanding academic leadership capabilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential. Mandarin is not compulsory.

The main expectation of the appointees shall include: 1) conduct cutting-edge research in an inter-disciplinary area that fits into the School’s development and publish in high-quality journals; 2) teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels in one of the key areas: Electronics, Mechanics, Engineering Science and Artificial intelligence; 3) supervise students, and contribute to the development of the SGE curriculum and outreach.

We offer an international competitive salary package (Annual salary: Full Professor: ¥600,000-1,000,000; Associate Professor: ¥400,000-600,000; and Assistant Professor: ¥300,000-400,000), and other supports including relocation expenses, housing allowance (or apartment provision) and start-up funds, depending on the position offered. We appreciate the culture differences and the difficulties of international relocation, and have dedicated staff to help and support for a smooth transition including children schooling.
