About the Project
This is an exciting PhD opportunity within the College of Technology and Environment (CTE) at London South Bank University (LSBU). The successful candidate will receive a standard stipend (£21,622 p.a. at 2025/26 rates); full home or O/S tuition fees (as applicable); and a research, training, and support grant of up to £5,000 for lab work or £2,000 for ICT over the project. Funding is available for 3 years, starting in September 2026, and the tuition fee waiver includes an extra year for writing up (4 years in total).
Project Overview
In memory of Dr Gareth Davies, LSBU is supporting a new, fully funded studentship in his field of interest. Gareth was a senior research fellow specialising in sustainable refrigeration, cooling, and heat recovery.
Projects supported in the following areas:
- State-of-the-art concepts of district heating and cooling networks
- Investigations of urban heat recovery opportunities and potential re-use of waste heat
- Sustainable and efficient refrigeration practices in commercial and industrial settings
- Adaptation to climate change and the future of space cooling
