General Counsel
Job Description
The General Counsel is a 12-month executive position with an anticipated start date of July 2026. The General Counsel provides leadership and legal counsel for the College to include contract review and development, litigation, public information requests, labor negotiations, employee disciplinary management, and policy review. This position serves as General Counsel to the Board of Trustees and provides legal services for various college-related issues. This position reports to the College President.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with an earned Juris Doctorate or equivalent, and five years’ experience in a higher education setting. Must be a member in good standing in the Florida Bar and eligible to practice in Florida. Successful results of a criminal background check.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
Annual Salary: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 (Depending on qualifications, salary is negotiable.)
