General Maint Repair Tech Sr
Position Overview
The General Maintenance Repair Tech Senior-Electrician position functions as part of a team of maintenance staff who are responsible for the instrumentation and life safety systems maintenance program within the Facilities Services department. This position performs inspections, maintains records of equipment, performs proactive and reactive repairs, and may occasionally respond to equipment failures and campus wide emergencies. This position requires driving of a state issued vehicle and requires a valid driver's license on date of hire and throughout employment.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am-4pm

Job Description
- 50% - General Maintenance, inspection and repair. Assists in the repairs and preventive maintenance for various lighting and electrical assets. Performs inspections and minor repairs accordingly. May act as a lead technician to more junior in-house technicians. May act as liaison for contracted services.
- 35% - Responds to emergency calls involving lighting and other electrical assets. Responds using standard protocols and communication channels. Inspects and reports deficiencies and root causes. Communicates all relevant information to electricians and other tradespeople as needed when jobs escalate.
- 10% - Other related general maintenance work as assigned. Maintains tools, parts and supplies. Assists with other maintenance inspections and needs. Assists with campus wide maintenance activities such as snow removal as needed.
- 5% - Performs other related work as assigned
Position Requirements
- Reach, grasp, hold, lift and place moderately heavy loads and heavy loads occasionally (50 lbs) with or without accommodation.
- Perform work above normal heights, in confined spaces and extreme temperatures (hot and cold) inside and outdoors.
- Operate work issued vehicles for transporting staff and materials.
- Working knowledge of an electric meter. Take amp, volt and ohm readings.
- Experience with use of power tools, drills, saws, etc.
- Work occasional planned and unplanned overtime as needed including responding to after- hours emergencies as needed.
- Report to work during declared periods of inclement weather.
- Must have a valid driver's license by the time of hire and maintain that license throughout employment.
- Must digitally enter work order information and perform other electronic communications as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Three (3) years of experience in a building or facility service trade (Ex. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, grounds, relocation etc.) Associate degree or vocational school certification may be substituted for one year of the requirement.
- Must have a valid driver's license by the time of hire and maintain that license throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience with light electrical duties: re-lamping, re-ballasting, residential and commercial wiring (switches and outlets), etc. as evidenced by application materials.
- Professional electrical, HVAC or plumbing experience as evidenced by application materials.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of electrical skilled crafts and building trades as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience working in a university, college or multi-building campus environment as evidenced by application materials.
